Unlike the Key 2, the Evolve smartphones have a display stretched across the entire front of the device and do away with a physical QWERTY keypad. The display itself is a 5.99-inch FHD+ panel with the now typical 18:9 aspect ratio and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. Under the hood, the Blackberry Evolve sports a Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 chip coupled with the Adreno 506 GPU along with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, while the Evolve X gets a beefier Snapdragon 660 SoC along with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. The textured back on both smartphones has a dual camera setup with both sensors rated at 13MP along with a fingerprint scanner below them. Since the back is polycarbonate, both Evolve and Evolve X smartphones support wireless charging which is a nice inclusion. The front houses a 16MP selfie shooter with an aperture of f/2.0 along with support for front-facing flash, bokeh mode, as well as face unlock. Both devices run on Android 8.1 Oreo with a promise from Blackberry to release monthly security patches. A key highlight of both smartphones is the large 4000mAh battery which when coupled with the 14nm chipsets, should ideally offer exemplary battery life. Since these are blackberry smartphones, there is a big focus on the security aspect of the devices and hence, there are a host of security features baked into the software.
