Using a PC/Mac is crucial for adding local music tracks to Spotify because you cannot do the same using a mobile device. That said, the process is quite simple, so let us have a look. Note: On Windows and Mac, Spotify performs a scan of all music folders as soon as you install the app. However, if your audio files are scattered in different folders, it is unlikely that Spotify will find them all.

  1. Open the Spotify desktop app (Windows/Mac) and click on your profile.

  2. After clicking on the Profile tab, hit the settings icon in the drop-down menu.

  3. Under settings, scroll down till you see the local files option.

  4. Now turn on the Local files option.

As mentioned before, you cannot import local files on your smartphone, but if you add it via PC, it will automatically sync it to your Android phone if you are connected to the same WiFi network.

  1. To access audio files on your Android smartphone, you will still need to add local files from your PC first.
  2. After adding local files from the PC, install Spotify from the Google play store on your android device.
